Power Pack 3 Single Executable??? RRS feed

  • Question

  • When and where can I get an ISO of Power Pack 3 so I can install it without turning on automatic updates? My server is not online and I have no intention of doing so. Will there be a direct download of a stand-alone .exe available soon? Nobody at Microsoft can seem to answer this question.

  • The only way to get PP3 is through Windows Update, as far as I know.

  • Microsoft is distributing Power Pack update only through Windows Updates. There is no separate download, and Microsoft has not announced any plans to make one available. In addition, there are prerequisites to the installation of Power Pack 3 which are also only available through Windows Updates. So if you want Power Pack 3 I'm afraid you will have to connect your server to your network and use the Update button in the console.

  • I'm really inexperienced at this whole server thing.  I have the Install Updates Automatically button checked on the General tab of Settings. I also go into the console periodically and click the "Update Now" button.

Can I assume that I have already received Power Pack 3 through the normal course?

    And how can I tell?

Since you have Automatic Updates turned on, it should already be installed.  You can find out by opening the Console and clicking the Settings button, then the Resources tab.

  • Thanks, kariya.  Just like you said, it's in the settings tab.

  • I am having the same issue. In the settings, my sever only has Power Pack 1 installed. I have used the Windows Update button and used Windows Updated from the Start Menu. Each time I try to update it says that Windows Home Server is currently up to date. This is crazy. I need to download both PP2 and PP3 and Windows Update doesn't work. Why can't they just post the updates on the MS download Center. This would be a much better solution for customers. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
