IFD and Through Network

Question

One of our client has asked for mixed mode dpeloyment. They want some of their users to access CRM through IFD and rest through their network only. Is that possible? If yes, please share some thoughts.
Thanks

I'm sure I remember this being recently discussed elsewhere in the forums. But the only relevant thread I could find confirms my suspicion that it can't be done directly.
That is; you can't restrict users to IFD or OnPremise via the CRM. But you can restrict them via your network infrastructure; using IIS and/or firewalling.

Absolutely.
When you use the IFD Configuration Tool, you can choose to configure the CRM for:
- IFD only OR
- IFD+OnPremise
Your client wants the latter.
When you configure IFD+OnPremise, you can allocate a range of IP Addresses from which the CRM will determine whether to treat an incoming connection as an IFD/SPLA or AD request.
From the outside, users connect using the https://orgname.domain.xxx
From the inside, users connect using the http://server:port/orgname

Thanks Pogo. It solves one part of the problem. But how cam we specify that this set of users only can logon through IFD and the rest through netwrok only. Any idea?Thursday, January 20, 2011 11:21 PM
