Expose OCS 2007 to the Internet RRS feed

  • Question

  • hi,

I have deployed OCS 2007 internally on our network.  It all works fine.  What I now need to do is setup the install so that users outside of our network can use OCS.

The users outside of our network will come in over the internet.  No fixed place.  They will need to instant message, join meetings, and create meetings.  They will also need to use webcams and voice.  We will not be using OCS with our phone system

We have 2 ISA 2004 servers here.  The first being a internal ISA server and the second is a external ISA server use to create a DMZ.

Our internal client IP's are all NAT'ed to a single facing Internet address.  Can someone point me in the right direction to get this exposed.

    Regards

  • Dilip,

You simply need to deploy an Edge Server in your Perimeter Network (DMZ).  Take a look at my article that covers Edge topologies and discusses potential ISA configurations. There are links to the official OCS Edge Deployment guides and a few other resources as well:

If you only have a single public IP address for your environment, then you will have trouble getting external Audio/Video to work in web conferences if you deviate from the deployment parameters.

  • Jeff is right. You need a OCS Edge Server. Make sure you read the blogpost in the OCS Team blog before making any steps. http://communicationsserverteam.com/archive/2008/03/25/133.aspx

Just to make sure you are familiar with the spoken language.

Enjoy and kicks in again if you make any progression.
