Windows 7 Ultimate says it is not genuine RRS feed

  • I just started getting an error saying that I was a victim of fraud and that my Windows is not geniune. I get directed to a website that says validating...and never completes. When I try to update my Windows I get an error.

    I purchased this Dell computer 2 1/2 years ago with Vista Ultimate installed by Dell. Was given the Windows 7 Ultimate upgrade when it came out. Everything has been fine up to now. Now I get the error. Here is the diagnostic

  • The Licensing Data section of the Diagnostic Report isn't showing correct information. This usually indicates that Windows 7's Licensing Store may be corrupt or unreadable. Try the following steps to recreate the Store.

    1)  Open an Internet Browser
    2)  Type: %windir%\system32 into the browser address bar.
    3)  Find the file CMD.exe
    4)  Right-Click on CMD.exe and select 'Run as Administrator'
    5)  Type: net stop sppsvc (It may ask you if you are sure, select yes)
         Note: the Software Protection servive may not be running, this is ok.
    6)  Type: cd %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareProtectionPlatform
    7)  Type: rename tokens.dat tokens.bar
    8)  Type: cd %windir%\system32
    9)  Type: net start sppsvc
    10) Type: slui.exe
    11) After a couple of seconds Windows Activation dialog will appear. You may be asked to re-activate and/or re-enter your product key or Activation may occur automaticly.

    Sorry – I can only suggest that you contact WGA support and see if they can help (The last person ended up having to do a nuke&pave, unfortunately)
