Can a machine appear in multiple device rings?

Question
-
The reason I ask this question is that I'm forever providing tech support to my beleagured none-techie relatives and it would be useful if their computers could appear in my device ring as well as their own, that way i can provide that tech support remotely.
Or if there's another scenario that I haven't yet thought of that could enable me to access my parents' computers - that would be great.

Yes this is possible to have the same device added to more than one Live Mesh account. However, be aware of the known issue below:
Issue: If you have two or more different Live Mesh accounts on the same computer that are also synchronizing the same folder, you will notice extremely high CPU usage, which can make your computer run slower.
Workaround: Do not synchronize the same folder for more than one Live Mesh account on the same device.
Thank you,

Jamie, in this case (supporting remote computer) your best option is to have WLC client installed on that box (remotely) and then you should claim that device (sign in and say - claim device and enable remote access). Then even if WLC UI is not running (another user is using that box) you will be able to login remotely from another computer (claimed by you).

Jamie,
Great idea - like a "remote administration" feature. Could you please add it and other such great ideas to the "sticky" feature suggestion thread? We are tracking that thread for planning purposes.
Thanks,
Todd

Hi Nicolai,
Perhaps I'm being stupid but what is the WLC client?

Sorry for the wrong term. I meant -- when you add a device to your mesh by clicking on big plus icon in your Live desktop (web desktop->Devices->Add Device), it aks you if you want to install an application (LiveMesh.exe) on your computer. This application is LiveMesh client and allows you to access this computer remotely if you claimed this computer (on first user sign in, it will ask if you want to claim your computer). After you claimed it computer you can access it remotely from another computer (also with installed LiveMesh client and claimed by you). So you can do your scenario.Thursday, April 24, 2008 8:51 PM
