Power Pack 2 - No updates available RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

I am on power pack 1, and I am trying to install Power Pack 2 but when I click software update on my home server, gives a message "no updates available".
I can't remember if powerpack 1 is beta or not, and how I installed it.

Tried to uninstall power pack 1 from Add remove programs but there is no entry there.

    Anyone can assist ?

  • Ok,

Power pack 1 looks like its not pre-release.
At resourses page show build 6.0.1800.0 on everything!

But still no updates available and cannot update to power pack 2.

    Anyone can assist?

    many thanks
    Bill.

Is this a pre-built server from HP, Acer, etc. or a DIY?  If a DIY, did you have any problems during installation?  How long ago did you install?  Did you install any apps from the server desktop?

  • Yes its a DIY. No Installation Problems.
I am running the server a year now.
I have installed some drivers only (display driver, and a PCI Sata Controller). no other software installed.

Any steps to troubleshoot the issue?

    many thanks

Typically when that happens, it's because it doesn't think it's WHS (it thinks it's SBS 2003 instead).  In order to fix it, you will probably have to do a Server Reinstallation.  Just to make sure though, does it have access to the internet?  Have any updates been installed on the server (i.e. Server 2003 updates)?

  • Thanks for your assistance!

Yes WHS is connected to the internet, and it have a ton of Windows Server 2003 Security updates plus the Power Pack 1 I installed manually.
So I guess is what you said. Something messed on installation and thinks its SBS 2003.

I dont want to reinstall on top, because I am afraid for my storage and the mess with the drivers (10 TB over here!!).

So any easy sollution to fix the issue and make it thinks its WHS ?
Any registry tweaks or something ?

Or as last option can I manually install Power Pack 2 like I did with Power Pack 1 ?

    many thanks

    Bill.

I can tell you I've done several test Reinstallations and never had one problem with it.

    None that I know of.

There is no download link for PP2 like there is with PP1.

    many thanks

    Bill.
