  • Hello Shuttle1981,

You have two major issues with the genuineness of the software on your Dell XPS 710 computer.

The 068 value in the PID reported above indicates that the source of the product key used to install this installation of Windows 7 Ultimate is the MSDN program.  If you are not an MSDN subscriber and purchased either just a standalone product key, or a full packaged product, with this MSDN product key, then it is very likely that you are the victim of software piracy and/or counterfeiting.

Carl_OH posted a detailed explanation of this in the Windows 7 forum at this link:  http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/genuinewindows7/thread/a2444f34-0aff-4f29-a8ac-67e28b0c0285  At the moment your MDSN-derived product key has not yet been blocked, but unless you are the original MSDN subscriber, it's likely the product key has been abused and will be blocked in the near future.

Your report time zone indicates that you are in the UK.  Microsoft has a complimentary replacement program for those who inadvertently purchased full packaged product that turns out to be counterfeit.  Please see:  http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/genuinewindows7/thread/4b6f01a4-4475-4e3b-a4e4-6ec921b785b8

Your installation of Office Enterprise 2007 on your Dell XPS 710 is a nongenuine installation.  It is a volume licensing installation that was done with an Invalid Volume Licensing Key.  An Invalid Volume Licensing Product Key is one that was generated by software pirates using a program called a key generator, or KeyGem for short.  This product key was never officially issued by Microsoft, making it Invalid.

Normally, legitimate users of Volume Licensing editions of Office are associated with larger business, educational, or governmental organizations.  If that's you, please contact your organization's IT support staff for further assistance.

If your use of this installation of Office Enterprise 2007 is not associated with a larger business, educational, or governmental organization, and you purchased the installed copy of Office Enterprise 2007 thinking that it was a retail license to be sold to individual consumers, it is likely that you are a victim of software piracy or counterfeiting.  As an individual consumer, you should never have been sold Volume Licensing (VL) materials such as the VL installation disc and you certainly should not have received a Invalid Product Key for Office Enterprise 2007.  You should have been sold Genuine retail licensed software.

If so, your first course of action is to confront your seller with this information and demand a full refund.

If the seller refuses to help, please file a piracy report at www.microsoft.com/piracy.  Also, depending upon whether you received "high quality" counterfeit materials, you may qualify for the Office Complimentary Offer or for the Office Genuine Advantage discounted offer.  Please see the FAQ here:  http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/downloads/FAQ.aspx?displaylang=en#ID0EKNAC  If you think that you qualify for the Genuine Office Offer, apply for the Offer thru the Learn More Online link that the OGA Notifier is displaying.

One other possibility is that at one time your computer did have a Genuine installation of Office installed, but for some reason it was replaced with the current installations which are nongenuine.  This could have happened if you took your computer to a repair shop and they reinstalled Windows and/or some or all of your programs.  You Get Genuine once again by uninstalling the current nongenuine installations of Office and using your Genuine Microsoft hologrammed Office installation CDs, along with the genuine Product Key found on your Office Edition's Certificate of Authenticity, to put back the genuine installation of Office you may have already had on the computer.
