CRM 2011 On-Premise how to change the default organization? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I need to make different orgs the default org at different times for:

    a) QuoteWerks integration testing (it only works to default org right now

    b) WSDL download (only works from default org

    c) IFD and AD FS 2,0 for claims based authentication works better on default org (I'm told)

When upgrading a deployment from 4.0 to 2011 I normally install a fresh 2011 install with a dummy org as default; then create a new db and restore from the 4.0 db backup; then run Deployment Manager import org function to upgrade that 4.0 production db to 2011 production org.  Then we want to make this new org the default org. How to do?

    thanks,
    Paul

  • Hi,

Setting a default organization feature has been removed in version Crm 2011. User's Default Org: when a user is added to an org for the first time in a deployment, the user's default org, and thus the org that is loaded by default when accessing http://server is set to this org. Any subsequent orgs the user is added to will not change this default org, unless it is deleted. The default org in this sense is a per user setting that cannot be modified.

  • FYI…I was able to solve my default org problem this way:

    1.       Created a new user account on the domain

    2.       Added this user to the org I want to use as default org

    Note:

    ·         You can not delete a user account from a CRM 2011 org anymore, only disable it

    ·         Disabling an account will not change it’s “default org” setting

    ·         Disabling an org does not change a user’s default setting

    ·         Deleting an org DOES change a user’s default setting, however it automatically changes to the next “first org” to which that user account was added; in my case my original user account had already been added to a previous org that could not be deleted so this didn't solve my problem. That’s why I had to create the new user account.

  • Hi,

I have answered you the same "User's Default Org: when a user is added to an org for the first time in a deployment, the user's default org, and thus the org that is loaded by default when accessing http://server is set to this org. Any subsequent orgs the user is added to will not change this default org, unless it is deleted. The default org in this sense is a per user setting that cannot be modified" also i told you about the default organizaiton feature.
