Can I install Windows Home Server on my Windows XP Media Center PC? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a Windows XP Media Center PC –

    1) Can I install Windows Home Server on this machine or do I need a dedicated server?

    2) If I install Windows Home Server on my Windows Media Center PC, will I still be able to run all the other applications that are currently on that PC?

  • The simple answer is "no." Unfortunately, it is not designed to operate that way.

It is possible that you could run the two operating systems on one computer using a virtualization product such as WMware or Virtual PC. But the two operating systems would see each other as separate computers. There would be no integration between the two.
