So. I bought a new laptop with Microsoft Office 2007 Home and Student pre-installed.

I did not get a Microsoft Office CD with the purchase.

Now, when I enter my product key, which is located on the Certificate of Authenticity, it says it's invalid.

I have tried several times and I'm 100% sure I'm entering the correct product key.

Also, I checked and it is NOT a trial version.

    So what's wrong?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Hello Ramzes M,

Here is a snippet of your mgadiag report:

    OGA Data-->
    Office Status: 102
Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 - 100 Genuine
    OGA Version: N/A, 0x80070002
    Signed By: N/A, hr = 0x80070002
    Office Diagnostics: 77F760FE-153-80070002_7E90FEE8-175-80070002_025D1FF3-364-80041010_025D1FF3-229-80041010_025D1FF3-230-1_025D1FF3-517-80040154_025D1FF3-237-80040154_025D1FF3-238-2_025D1FF3-244-80070002_025D1FF3-258-3_B4D0AA8B-920-80070057

Your Acer Aspire computer has a genuine installation of Office H&S 2007 on it.  Note that the Office Status value of 102 is present, meaning that this installation is indeed a Trial installation of Office H&S 2007.

Regarding entering the product key from the CoA into the Office Activation Wizard, note that the CoA on the bottom of your Acer Aspire is for the Windows 7 Operating System installed on the computer.  It should not be expected that this Product Key would activate any other Microsoft product other than the Windows 7 Home Premium installation on your Acer computer.

Since Microsoft has released Office 2010, Microsoft no longer sells product keys for Office 2007 directly to consumers.

At this point, your options include:

    1.  From a trusted local or online retailer, purchase a full packaged product for the Office 2007 edition of your choice and install on your computer.

    2.  From a trusted local or online retailer, purchase a full packaged product for Office Home and Student 2007.  Use the product key that's in the retail package, enter it into the Activation Wizard, and activate your product with this key, thus saving the hassle of uninstalling and reinstalling Office.

    3.  Download and install a Trial of Office Home and Student 2010 directly from Microsoft.  If you like it, Microsoft will of course sell you a product key so you can activate the product.  http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/try/try-office-2010-FX101868838.aspx  You can select your country or region at the upper right corner of this page.

    4.  Purchase a downloadable copy of Office 2010 directly from the Microsoft Store:  http://store.microsoft.com/microsoft/Office/category/2  You can select your country or region at the lower right corner of this page.
