My Office 2007 is Home and Student.  It is Dell (OEM).  The product key listed on the Certificate of Authenticity is not the one shown above in the diagnostic.

My Office 2003 partial install (which I had to put on this computer so that I would have an English spell checker in Outlook for heavens sake  -  I would like to talk to the Microsoft genius that decided to only provide a French spell check capability in the Office 2007/Outlook application) is Basic Edition.  It is also Dell oem.  The product key is also not the same as that shown above.

I do not have a full copy of Office 2003 on this computer.  I only installed the dictionary to use with Outlook.  It is Office 2007 I am trying to download the template to.

  • Hello Belle Louise,

In an attempt to assist I would like to provide some information which may or may not help.

    From the Desktop:

    1.

Click Start,  All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and then Activate Windows.

Or, click the Windows Activation icon in the taskbar notification area next to the clock.

    2.

Click Yes, I want to telephone a customer service representative to activate Windows now.

    3.

Click Read the Windows Product Activation Privacy Statement, click Back, and then click Next.

    4.

Follow the steps in the “Activate Windows by phone” dialog box, and then click Next.

Note The number appears now and differs based on the location that you select.

    5.

When activation is completed and you receive the following message:

You have successfully activated your copy of Windows

    Then click OK.

  • I don't have an Activate Windows option in System Tools.  I'm using XP and not Vista.  I'll try to find the number elsewhere and report back if I can't find it.

  • I don't know how to get an Activation Window to open for Office 2003.  I only partially installed the software to have access to an English dictionary for spell check.  I also am not able to find a phone number to call where I can speak to a person to activate the software on this computer.  I am in the Sacramento area of northern California.  Can you give me a number to call?

  • I called that number earlier.  Got an automated system.  Options did not include activating Office 2003 (closest option was for activating Office XP), nor was there an option for reaching a person.  Automated instructions indicated I needed to have my activation window open.  I don't know how to open an activation window for Office 2003, since I only installed the dictionary and cannot find a file to open which will bring up the activation window.  Any Office 2003 file I try to open, opens in my Office 2007.  I would be happy to delete the Office 2003 dictionary off this computer, but then I would not have an English spell checker in Outlook.
