Batch Script to ENABLE "Allow VBScript to run in Internet Explore" RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Hello I can navigate to "Allow VBScript to run in Internet Explore" and set it to Enable.  I need assistance on doing the same thing in a batch script.

    Thanks

  • VBScript is always enabled in Internet Explorer.  There is not need to enable it.  If it is disabled via Group Policy you cannot change it with any tool.

VBScript is always disabled in "Restricted Zones" and should NEVER be enabled in that zone.

  • That's not actually correct.  It was not set at all for the job I am on the STIG require it to be Enabled.  Without too much detail I am running a patch.  This is one of the requirements.

Thank you for your response though.

  • If GP disables VBScript then you cannot enable.

If it appears to be disabled and there is no GP then suspect a corrupt IE registry key.

If IE setting have been set to "high" for the Internet zone the scripting is disabled.

Most enterprises currently set the IE zone security to "high" via Group Policy.  You will not be able to override this.

I recommend doing more research until you understand why this is set the way it is.

  • This is not a scripting question/problem and is posted in the wrong forum. I would suggest a GPO or security forum. (Use a search tool to find more appropriate places to ask.)
