Problem with some records when importing from .CSV

Question
-
Hi,
After exporting a list of leads to an Excel file, updating the lead information, then importing them back I get the following error on 3 out of the 62 entries when looking at the failures in the import job:
"The number of fields differs from the number of column headings"
I can't work out why only three have the problem and how these three differ from the rest of the entries, they look exactly the same to me.
Any ideas?
Best Regards

I'm guessing hidden characters e.g. carriage return. Open the source sheet in Excel and browse along one of the records failing and see if the contents box at the top leaps to larger than one line that might be the giveaway.

Probably a comma in the row of data. Do a find and replace on all commas. Replace the comma with a space.

if you go to settings - > Data Management -> Imports and then open your import Job
select Failures and this will display all he records which are failed and will also give reason why they failed and also give the name of the columns (for which import failed)... this might have help in finding the cause of issue and then resolved it..
hope it helps...Saturday, October 17, 2009 7:35 PMAnswerer -

Thank you all very much for getting back to me on this... I took your advice Leon and found the issue. The three lines that were failing had a column with a comma in the entry.
Fab response... got to love responsive forums.
All the best
