ActiveDirectoryServerDownException, After installing rollup 9

Question
-
Hello Folks,
Something wrong with rollup 9 or ???
I established a multi-server environment, i.e, application on one box, sql + reporting services on another box. Both in the same domain, with correct SPNs created in AD for both sql and http. Everything was running fine, until i installed rollup 9 for server, email and MUI.
After installing rollup9 for above mentioned i am getting this exception in event viewer

You can have a look at this KB and ensure your settings are correct. Since the issue corrects itself, it could be some network traffic issues, delayed authentication between servers, or any number of other 'things'.

Try to do this steps:
Go to the registry: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\MSCRM
Add a new String value : PreferredDc
Specify the domain controller that you want. Typically, this is the closest domain controller.
Restart the CRM server.
Let us know if this helped.

Strangely it fixes itself, after a while or after pushing iisreset arbitrary times.
However, specifying PrefrredDc did not help. i tried both with ip and fqdn of closest domain controller (there is only one) and restarted the server after changing each time.
In addition to this, i have noticed one thing. This happens after server is restarted. For example first time it happened when i restarted after installing rollup 9. Second time it happened when i restarted the server today after some windows updates installed. But this is strange.
Could it be related to the the some settings in AD ? We only have one domain controller and single domain. the functional level of domain is "Windows 2000 mixed". I am no where close to geek when it comes to settings related to AD and DCs :PWednesday, February 24, 2010 7:16 PM -

I had the same error with UR9 , I noticed it when crm wasn't filling in the first name and last name when adding a new user. It went away for me after removing the APIPA ip in the DNS server from an unplugged nic on the DC.
So maybe round-robin dns is the problem. This problem never came back since.
