Lost my product key!

  I have recently replaced my hard-drive and want to reinstall windows vista. However, I stupily, pealed off the sticker containing that number when I first recieved it. I have contacted the distributors of my laptop to see if they keep a record of the product key, but they do not. Can I purchase a new product key? or is there a way of installing windows without one?
