Windows Media Center keeps popping up RRS feed

    Several days ago, Windows Media Center started popping up whenever I needed to view a video or needed to perform certain tasks.  I can't override it, delete it, or go back to restore to another point (box pops up stating "restore will not start".  Do I have a virus??  How do I fix this?  It is driving me crazy and all suggestions I have found online I have been unable to succeed in getting rid of Windows Media Center.  This started last Thursday morning when the taskbar disappeared and when we were trying to figure that out, WMC kept popping up.  Lots of my programs have the WMC icon on the start menu, instead of the normal program icon (i.e., internet explorer has WMC green windows icon instead of the blue E).   Even Microsoft Excel and Word have the WMC icon.  Can someone please help????
