Edge on the Internal Network? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi!

Is it possible to install the access and web edge role on the internal network and then publish them through ISA server? And if it is, is there any special settings I need to configure?

  • Yes, you can do this as long as you don't plan on using the A/V Edge service since the NAT would break it.  There are no special settings - just publish the necessary ports as described in the documentation.

  • If you did deploy on the internal network, would it still be necessary to have 2 nic cards, since Edge Server requires in setup?  Thanks, Fred

  • To be supported by MS I believe you need two NICs.  It's definitely a best practice from a security perspective.  However, if you're not concerned about either of these two things you can give your Edge server NIC two IP addresses to make it work.  This is a common config for test/demo environments.
