Thanks for PP1 RC4: hard work shows. RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Documentation: excellent.
    Installation: very smooth.

Noted inconsistency after upgrade:  Yellow Network Health notification for SYS volume failure.  Occurred three days after upgrade.  Repair NOT run.
CHKDSK run on SYS volume as administrator:
      after "Usn Journal verification completed"
"Windows found problems with the file system.
Run CHKDSK with the /F (fix) option to correct these"

The same indication as received twice a day in previous version of WHS.  Rebooted WHS but scheduled CHKDSK /F failed to run at boot and error remained on SYS.  However, Network health returned to Green and has remained Green for several days though the SYS vol CHKDSK error persisted.  Successfully ran CHKDSK /F on WHS reboot correcting file system as indicated by CHKDSK after boot-up.  However, within 24hrs, error returned on SYS vol and Net Heath remains Green.  CHKNTFS has never indicated dirty on either volume since startup 15-May-08.

Intel Duo Quad 2.4GHz, 4GB DDR2-667, SATA1=WD750Gb, SATA2=WD250Gb[disabled in WHS]  Production server for digital video recording 15hr/ 15Gb/day on Data volume which has remained clean in both versions.  Will do some bata tests soon.  Thanks also for the tip on the complexity of only backing up [imaging] SYS.

  • I am not sure if you are trying to tell us you think there is a bug that needs to be fixed, or you think you have a problem with your primary hard drive or that you don't think there is any problem....

Excellent! Glad to hear it but if you have any issues in the future with this, please file a report on Connect so we can look into it for you. Smile
