  • Question

  • I am attempting to install Windows XP on a system that has had significant hardware changes multiple times.  The online activation is now failing, and when activating by phone (US), I am transfered me to "customer service".  Unfortunately, for 3 days in a row while activating over the phone, I have recieved the message, "we are unable to help you at this time, please try again later".

This is a vaild, full version of Windows XP, not installed on any other system.  How do I get in contact with a customer rep to resolve?

  • Hello DRM_0916,

I believe the phone number that XP is telling you to call is 1-888-571-2048. If not, try that number.  Once you call, you will get an Automatic Voice telling you information, asking you questions and trying to Activate your product for you. Just say the word "Operator" out loud.  The Voice will try to convince you that it's faster to Activate with the Voice, just say "Operator" again. The Voice will then connect you with a Live person that can help you with the Activation problem.

(Note: This process is only for the US Activation Phone line, any other reagions will have a different Automatic Voice (if at all) and they may not respond to voice commands)

    Thank you,
