Can't upgrade Home Server connector software RRS feed

  • Question

  • Upgraded to the latest power pack in November and have since been unable to ugprade the connector software on all (6) client PCs. Since upgrading I get a message saying there is a new version available. When I click "upgrade" it immediately returns the vague error "The operation can not be completed at this time".

I can't restore the homeserver PC to factory defaults, but have uninstalled and reinstalled the power pack and tried unplugging the networking equipment (never understood why that would ever work) to no avail.

I also tried installing from http://servername:55000 and manually from the Software folder and still get the error.

This appears to be a very common issue from searching the Internet and nothing has worked for me. Any other suggestions or patches coming soon?

Have you tried uninstalling the Connector software on a client, rebooting that client, then installing it again?  Do you have any type of security-suite software on your clients that might be blocking data transmissions?

  • I'm in the same boat with 3 machines, 2 on win 7 and 1 on win xp.

Have another box that was vista and upgraded to win 7 and it had the connector on it before which is still working.

i have scrubbed two of the boxes of all security software, rebooted hundreds of times, etc.. nothing.

i can rdp into the home server, access all http & https sites, ping works perfectly, nslookup puts me to some strange server in my isp's atmosphere.

  • I solved that with uninstalling the connector - you can use the setup.exe from the \\software share...
