Windows OneCare Backup folder size misleading RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I  have an external 500GB drive dedicated for one care backup. There is no other folder on this drive except the Windows OneCare Backup folder. Even though this folder's properties says that its only 528kb, the available space on the drive is only 235GB. Whys is this? Yes, I have tons of pictures, videos and music and I understand that this would take space to backup but isn't this misleading?

    Thanks,

  • This is because OneCare protects the backup folder, causing the internal contents to be hidden.

I agree that this can be disconcerting and probably needs to be addressed via a management view of backups within OneCare to allow a cleanup to be performed as needed.
