Foder Copy to support filters RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Hi,

When a copy command is issued either from UI or Command line it would be nice to have a way to let the usr support copy of files in the current and sub directory with support for filters. e.g We may want to copy only *.properties from the root folder to other directory. Currently this has to be done from UI only with first search for *.properties and then selecting all these and say copy. May be it there is a direct and more file pattern matching support as in Ant **/*/*.java etc.. it would be very useful.

  • This is the Windows Home Server forum; you should perhaps find a forum for your particular operating system. There are forums for Windows desktop systems in the Technet Social forums platform .

That said, oddly enough, the command copy *.properties <dirname> where <dirname> is the name of the target directory will copy all files with the extension .properties (and only those files) to the folder <dirname> . More complex wildcard operations are generally not directly available in Windows, but a little bit of work with e.g. advanced batch commands, VBScript/JScript or PowerShell will probably let you do what you want.
