New WordPress Theme - Text Wrapping Issue RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

I recently changed my WordPress theme and since doing so, and updating the theme within Live Writer, the 'Text Wrapping' (eg: Left, Right) no longer works.  There are no error messages, the image just sits in the left hand justified position on the left and text doesn't wrap around it at all.  It doesn't matter what type of text wrapping I select the image just remains in the same position.  This is true even if I select the 'Preview' view as well as 'Edit'.

If I deselect the 'Edit using theme' option from within Live Writer then text wrapping works ok so I am guessing it is something missing from my new WordPress theme or an incompatibility.  I have reinstalled Live Writer but this doesn't make a difference.

Any suggestions or help much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,

  • I also have the same exact issue and have found no help on this, very frustrating.  The text wrapping feature does not work left or right while having it on "edit using theme" under the view menu.  Anyone have any idea why?  The images do not allow any text to wrap.

  • The problem is with the theme... wipe it and start over.
Windows Live Writer doesn't always detect the themes right and wiping the folder is a good way to make sure your only getting NEW files from your blog.

    Hope this helps.

I'm using a wordpress child theme for thematic.  I've built several child themes before and did not have this problem, but I've reloaded my theme at least 6 times.  The text never wraps around an image.  In fact, the image positioning does not seem to work at all (right, center, left)

reloading the theme does not fix this.  I'm using Live write v14

  • Windows Live Writer doesn't always detect the themes correctly, and its terribly irritating to come across this issue.

But you SHOULD still be able to use Windows Live Writer with those themes; you just need to make some manual adjustments. I've an article that are some options for Windows Live Writer users to try to help them with their theme issues.

  • I had the same issue with Windows Live Writer and Wordpress TwentyTen theme.

Apparently it comes from the css styles loaded with the theme.

The only workaround I found for the moment is to go to the source tab in WL Writer and add class="alignleft" or class="alignright" to the attributes of your <img> tags.

I suppose you could directly edit the css file from the Wordpress theme to stop breaking WL Writer built-in features.

  • This thread is kind of old... and he's right the problem is the CSS, but there's a new version of Windows Live Writer and it does better at detecting themes..

If not already, download the beta...
