Hello NW Radio Guy,
Quite often computer manufacturers install Trial editions of Office onto their computers. If your HP laptop came with a Trial of Office 2007, that in and of itself would not qualify you for the free Office 2010.
If your HP came with the Trial of Office 2007
and you purchased the product key to convert the Trial into a perpetually licensed installation of Office 2007, then that would qualify you for the free Office 2010.
If your HP laptop came with a perpetually licensed (and not Trial) OEM installation directly from HP, then that would qualify for the free Office 2010.
