MSF DBSyncProvider and SQL Server 2000 RRS feed

    Hello everyone,

Maybe you can help me out with this:

I wanted to test the MSF to sync two databases.

Having a N-Tier scenario I chose to follow the advice given in “Architecture and Classes for Peer-to-Peer Synchronization” in the MSF documentation.

Unfortunately the DBPeerSyncProvider does not seem compatible with versions of SQL Server older than SQL Server 2005 as it tries to use the IsolationLevel Snapshot when executing a transaction.

Is this going to change or can I alter this behaviour in any way?

Is there another way to use MSF to synchronize two SQL Server 2000 instances?

    Regards,

    Michael

  • Hi Michael,

When using DBPeerSyncProvider to build peer-to-peer sync scenarios you are required to use SQL Server 2005 or above. The reason is that you will need snapshot isolation mode to ensure data consistency while concurrent syncs are in progress.
