Uninterruptible Power Supply Service RRS feed

  • Question

  • Mine won't start!

When I first boot the server, I get an error saying a service failed to start.

When I try and start it manually, I get the error:

Can not start the Uninterruptible Power Supply Service on Local Computer.
Error 2: The system cannot find the file specified.

Now I will confess to messing about with all this a few months ago, trying to get Grid Junction add-in working.

I think it started going pear-shaped when I tried to install/remove APC software. I have just been ignoring the error, but I'd like to fix it now.

    Regards,

    John.

  • I don't guarantee this will work, but you can try disabling the service in the management console:
    • Log in to your server using remote desktop or physically connected console.
    • Right click My Computer.
    • select Manage.
    • Open up the Services and Applications branch.
    • Click on Services.
    • Scroll down and find Uninterruptible Power Supply.
    • Right click the service and select Properties.
    • Change Startup Type to Disabled.
    • Click Apply.
    • Log off.
The only supported fix (so that the service can be set back to Manual, which is how it's normally configured) will be a server reinstallation.

I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)

  • Thanks for the reply Ken.

I have done what you said.

Is there no way I can get hold of the files that are missing, I don't know what they are, other than a reinstall?

    Regards,

    John.
