Windows 7 64 bit- not validating of genuineness of windows RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have purchased Windows 7 64 bit after full payment to vendor M/s. Expert Technologies (Mr.Manish Panchal) and after installation registered with Microsoft and system logo indicated windows is genuine.  Now after 2 years and several updates it now shows a logo "ask for genuine microsoft software"  I have clicked on "windows product ID" as it asked for change product ID.  I had also run Microsoft Genuine Advamtage Diagnostic Tool and report indicates the product is genuine. Report is as follows-

  • I don't think he's actually seeing any non-genuine message - he's simply referring to the blue logo at the bottom of the System Properties Screen!

  • Hi

Do you have the sticker for windows 7? If so it should be valid. Are you sure it was activated correctly through the MS channels or with the non legal tools on the internet?

Hope this helps. Please remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post that helps you, and to click “Unmark as Answer” if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.

  • Please answer each of the following [admittedly tedious] diagnostic questions in a correspondingly-numbered list in your very next reply, preferably without quoting my post:

1a. When (approx. date) did you purchase the computer?

1b. Did Win7 64-bit come preinstalled on the computer when you bought it, did you do a clean install of Win7, or did you upgrade a (e.g., Vista) computer to Win7?

    2. What is the full name of your installed anti-virus application or security suite and when (approx. date) does your current subscription expire? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender) are installed? What third-party firewall (if any)?

    3. Has a(nother) Norton application or a McAfee application EVER been installed on the computer since you bought it?

    4. Did a Norton free-trial or a McAfee free-trial [PICK ONE] come preinstalled on the computer when you bought it? (Doesn't matter if you never used or Activated it.)

    5. Is KB2977629, KB2972211 & KB2973112; KB2976897, KB2993651, KB2918614, KB2978668, KB2937610 and/or KB2943357 listed in Installed Updates (not Update History)? [1]

    6. Assuming Java is installed => Is Java Version 7 Update 65 (or higher) installed? TEST HERE USING INTERNET EXPLORER ONLY! => http://java.com/en/download/uninstallapplet.jsp [2]

    7. Is Adobe Flash Player v15.0.0.167 (or higher) installed? TEST HERE USING INTERNET EXPLORER ONLY! => http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

    8a. Is Internet Explorer (IE8), IE9, IE10 or IE11 installed?

8b. What Update Version & KB number are displayed in the second line of text in IEXX's Help | About [Alt+H+A] tab; e.g., Update Version: 10.0.54 (KB1231231)
8c. Is Firefox, Chrome or any other alternate browser installed?

    9. Are you in the habit of using "Registry cleaners" (e.g., Registry Mechanic; System Mechanic; RegCure; RegClean Pro; Advanced SystemCare; Registry Booster; McAfee QuickClean; Glary Utilities; AVG PC TuneUp; Norton Registry Cleaner; PCTools Optimiser; SpeedUpMyPC; PC Doctor; TuneUp Utilities; WinMaximizer; WinSweeper; Comodo System Cleaner; Advanced System Optimizer; CCleaner's Registry Cleaner component)?

[2] No need to install Java if it's not already installed!

There is nothing obviously wrong with this report.  Are you seeing the non-genuine message EVERY time you boot or is it just once in a while?  If it is once in a while, it may be a race condition brought on by an over zealous anti-virus program.

Also, for the best advice on this, you should repost your question to the Windows 7 Genuine Issues forum instead of here.

  • Did the OP reference an 0x80070005 error in his post?

~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-Windows Client since 2002 Disclaimer: MS MVPs neither represent nor work for Microsoft

No they did not.  And this is why I recommended that OP repost into the Genuine Issues forum.  I find that even the Microsoft employees that post here do not understand the Genuine Report or how to interpret it correctly.  Noel Paton (the moderator of the Genuine Issues forum) is far more experienced and competent when it comes to these issues.
