Deleting files, not clearing up space on WHS

Question
-
I received an error telling me that there's not enough free server storage space to complete my backup. Not surprising, as I only have one 250GB hard drive in the box. To free up space, I tell WHS to "Delete at next Backup Cleanup" for several older backups. After the latest cleanup, I find the files missing. But, the space available on the WHS still says below 1GB. Any guesses why deleting all those files would not free up space?
I have two machines on the network that are being backed up.
* The first is a Windows Media Center machine with two HD (350GB and 1TB). The majority of those drives are used for the Media Center storage. I would be surprised to hear that WHS is trying to backup those files.
* The second machine on my network is an old laptop that hardly has any files in My Documents anymore. It's only used for web browsing most of the time these days.
Thoughts?

If that's not possible, I would recommend deleting all of your backups from all of your PCs, then start over from scratch (that way it will only backup current files and folders).I have two machines on the network that are being backed up.

You may want to look at the backup being done on the WMC station and confirm it is not backing up some unnecssary files. You could also consider removing duplication from data that isn't needed to be duplicated.
