Configure CRM Outlook client without being logged on the Domain RRS feed

  • Question

  •

    We have CRM 4.0 installed.

    - I have outlook 2007 installed on my laptop.

    - I have installed the CRM client for outlook.

    - I am logged on to my machine as a regular user and not as a domain user

    - My outlook is configured for POP3.

    - In "Internet Options" of IE, I have added the CRM server URL as a  trusted site.

    - In "Internet Options" of IE, in both "ILocal ntranet" and "Internet", I have set up "User Authentication/log on" "Prompt for user and password" checked.

    - I am able to access the CRM server through IE by using the same URL

When I try and configure the CRM 4.0 client for outlook, it asks for the CRM server and I give the server URL, it gives an error that the server is down or cannot connect. It "does not" give me an http 401 error.

Any clues if this will even work?

    Regards

    Shri

  • You cannot use CRM with outlook client if the deployment is OnPremise (standard), you will need to configure CRM for IFD (internet facing deployment), refer to http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=948779 for configuration.

When configuring outlook client, specify the Service provider option (i think -- no the onpremise one).
