I recently install Live Mesh on three computers two running win 7 and one running vista. After setting up sync folders on the computers the files all show up but after making chnages to the files and saving the updated files don't resync. What might cause this??Wednesday, December 2, 2009 11:58 PM

I think that you had the misfortune of running into the problem that is affecting the environment, beginning yesterday and apparently still ongoing as of 12/3/09 at 9:00 EST.

Watch that thread and wait for a report that all is well. If your files do not sync after that, we can review what might be happening specific to your machines.

Thanks very much for the reply, I'll watch the thread. Also, one more question, is there any way to sync an entire folder rather than just individual files?

Yes, the entire folder will sync if you make a local folder into a Mesh folder and sync with the Live Desktop and, optionally, other devices.

Tks again for the reply. Sorry for the novice questions I'm a Live Mesh newbie. How do you make a "Local Folder" and "Mesh Folder"?Thursday, December 3, 2009 5:23 PM

Tks again for the reply. Sorry for the novice questions I'm a Live Mesh newbie. How do you make a "Local Folder" and "Mesh Folder"?
well, at the moment, you may not be able to since there is aparently some widespread service problem with Live Mesh.
A "local" folder means it is a folder on your computer that you see in Windows Explorer represented by a yellow folder icon. If, after installing Live Mesh, you right click that folder and select "Add to Mesh" it will be added to your Live Mesh and will sync with the Live Desktop at www.mesh.com and other devices in your Mesh (PCs that have the client installed and signed in with the same liveID). You can optionally choose to not sync with the Live Desktop and if you have multiple machines, you can choose to not sync a folder with one or more of them.
If you simply create a folder on the Live Desktop at www.mesh.com and do not install the client software, you are not synchronizing. If you do that and have the client installed and you also let that folder sync to your PC (the folder on your PC desktop is offered by Live Mesh as light blue and when you click it, you can select the sync options) it is now mesh folder and anything you put into that folder on your PC will sync to the Live Desktop copy of the folder. If you place something in that folder on the Live Desktop when using another PC, it will sync to your PC that has that folder defined as a Mesh folder.
