Trying hard to keep up RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is there any progress on why some people are having problems updating to newer versions?

For example, I had to uninstall, use the cleanup tool and reinstall, to proceed from version 1.5 to 1.6 and again from 1.6 to version 2.0.

Having read another recent post it appears I have fallen behind again.  Help/about shows that I have version 2.0.2500.10 yet others report being on 2.0.2500.30.

It is frustrating and disappointing to have to keep uninstalling/reinstalling just to keep up with the rest.

Anyone any thoughts on this matter?

  • If you are reinstalling, use the download from http://onecare.live.com to obtain the latest version. I know that there was an issue identified that caused program updates to not be successful, but I don't know the cause or the solution. You may want to have a look at this post - http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=3008806&SiteID=2

  • I reinstalled onecare again.  This time it informed me that AD-AWARE 2008 was a conflicting program and advised me to uninstall it.  Reluctantly I obliged.

Yesterday for the 1st time since I was at 1.5, my onecare upgraded...(to version 2.0.2500.32)

I am wondering if all along the problem was being caused by my frequent use of AD-AWARE in it's previous forms?

  • Ad Aware very well could have been the cause of the One Care issues. The most recent versions of Ad Aware ( 2007 and 2008 ) run background services that conflict with One Care.
