Install troubles

Question
-
I seem to be running into a problem with onecare, I had the trial and it ran out so I bought the retail pakage and tried to use the key, but it wouldn't let me associate my PC, whatever the heck that means! So I tried removing the trial and installing from the disk provided and now it let me use my key, but when it tells me that I need to associate my PC with my windows live ID, it tells me that I can't continue because I already have it!?!? Yet the "At Risk" alert remains there and askes me to finish setup! Any help would be fantastic, thank you.Wednesday, December 3, 2008 6:27 PM

Since you appear to have activated the subscription, you should first verify this by going to https://billing.microsoft.com to see your subscription status when signing in with the LiveID used for the original activation.
If it is reporting that it needs to connect to the Internet to complete activation, see this post:
Unable to Connect to Internet to Complete Installation
If that doesn't help, try removing OneCare completely from Control Panel/Programs and then run the cleanup tool:

Review the installation troubleshooting:
See this post for the KB article to troubleshoot install problems - http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1588602&SiteID=2
And then reinstall OneCare, subscribing/activating with the LiveID for your subscription. If that still fails, please contact support.
