CRM 2011 Sitemap - Reports Won't Render RRS feed

  • Question

  • CRM 4.0 renders reports (added through a sitemap) just fine.  I've upgraded our dev environment to 2011.  Now reporting from the sitemap doesn't work.  Something mangles the report URLS and now we get

    • The operation you are attempting on item "/" is not allowed for this item type. (rsWrongItemType)

I'm using a tool that watches all of my HTTP requests.  I took a look at how CRM 2011 renders the page when I click on a report.  Something removes both the root folder and the report name itself.

  • In case anyone else comes across this thread looking for a solution, I've found a workaround for now but obviously would still be interested if anyone finds a better solution.

I have been able to get this working by using an HTML Web Resource that is simply a dummy web page that auto redirects to the Report Viewer URL on load.

  • Try installing SRS reporting extensions on the CRM server.  It's included with the CRM 2011 install media. Just look through the folder structure of the install media and you should be able to fine a /srsdataconnector, or something to that effect.

    Thanks,

  • I am unable to understand your scenario. Have you added the individual report url in the sitemap. And then try to run the report from there.

If yes, what url have you added in the sitemap and what url is finally executing. Could you please explain the problem with more detail?

    Thanks

  • Make sure the report exist on the upgraded environment.

Check your url and then make sure that report exists on reportserver. May be just path is wrong etc.

    I hope this helps.

  • Anyone find an answer to this issue?

I am finding the same problem following an upgrade from CRM 4 to 2011.

If I just try the URL in IE directly it works fine but if I add it to the Sitemap I get the same error when viewing through CRM:

"The operation you are attempting on item '/' is not allowed for this item type. (rsWrongItemType)"

The URL I am trying is the same as it was in CRM 4:

    http://reportingserver/ReportServer/Pages/ReportViewer.aspx?%2fORG_MSCRM%2fSearchReport&rs:Command=Render&rc:LinkTarget=_blank

    Thanks

Apparently crm sitemap truncates the report name(bold text below) from the url. Creating an html web resource worked for me. Thanks for the answer.

    http://reportingserver/ReportServer/Pages/ReportViewer.aspx?/Folder1/ReportName&rs:Command=Render&rc:LinkTarget=_blank
