Does Morro kill the backup feature? RRS feed

  • Question

  • According to the news here:

    http://rcpmag.com/news/article.aspx?editorialsid=10404

The new Morro program that is going to replace OneCare is not going to have a backup and restore feature.  Is this true?  If so, does MS plan to offer a similar backup and restore product?  I count on this aspect of OneCare as my main backup system, and I don't want it to go away.  Can users continue to use the backup feature even after their subscriptions expire?

Thanks in advance for the info.

  • Based on the announcements, it appears that backup will not be part of the new product. We have no idea if there will be anything offered to replace OneCare backup. When your subscription expires, OneCare backup will no longer function.

Note that Windows includes a similar backup and restore feature already, though it is pretty much as quirky as OneCare's backup program, having its own limitations.
