Windows XP not genuine?

Question
-
Ok I bought this laptop off of Craigslist , I am on fixed income and so am not able to afford a new one . Is this illegal? Should I try to get this person to refund my money? ( I doubt that will happen as it has been 3 months since I purchased it ,and he can just say I altered the equipment) What do I do now to upgrade and fix the computer ? Any idea how much? Can I do this online with a Microsoft company?

Please post your MGADiag report, and tell us whether your machine has a COA sticker on it - and for which version and edition of WIndows it's valid, if so.
To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool
(download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.
- **in your own thread**, please
Please also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine (or inside the battery compartment), but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker!

Contact the manufacturer of the laptop and ask them to send you their Windows recovery/reinstallation disc.
