  • Your installation is counterfeit.

Your machine was built 6 months before Windows 7 was launched, but claims to have been installed by the manufacturer.

There is evidence of a hacker's Activation Exploit designed to circumvent proper activation and validation.

You need to reformat and reinstall the original OS, preferably using the manufacturer's Recovery media.

  • the original machine I had windows 7 on had internal problems, so I got my current pc for free from my dad and  he had someone copy the hard drive from the original pc (Toshiba satellite c675) to the current pc (hp Compaq 6730b). Would that have been what cause the problem?

  • Yep - that'd do it.

Pre-installed Windows Licenses are not transferable between machines.
