CRM 4.0 Outlook Offline Client Error RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear All,

Today I've started to test the Outlook Offline Client.
The installation and configuration went very smoothly.
But now it comes. When i start up Outlook the CRM Toolbar indicates that is synchronizing with CRM Server etc etc.
And then an error pops up:
"An error occurred loading Microsoft Dynamics CRM functionality. Try restarting Microsoft Outlook. Contact your system administrator if errors persist."

Now the toolbar doesn't respond to anything, but the menu on te left works fine. Until I've restarted Outlook, now the toolbar doesn't respond and the menu on the left is empty (The MSCRM map)

    Some information:
Working on the VPC CRM 4.0 (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=dd939ed9-87a5-4c13-b212-a922cc02b469&displaylang=en)
I've installed our own MSCRM Outlook Offline Client
I've ran the DiagTool on it, but it doesn't provide me with usefull information.
I would like to try this KB Article, but I don't understand exaclty what the mean. (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/952279)

Is anybody here familiar with the problem? Or does somebody got a good suggestion to solve the problem?

** I'm using the offline client for testing purpose, we want to put all our customizations (routines and functions)  in an external JS. And the offline client should have that external JS stored on the offline website.**

I hope to hear from someone soon!

    Kind Regards,
    Joey

  • Just installed both.
    Doesn't make any difference.

  • Joey - I'm not sure I completly follow your issue - are you trying to connect to the CRM on the VPC from a computer in your domain - or to a CRM in your own domain from outlook on a VPC?

  • My understanding is that it is not possible to run the "offline" client in the CRM VPC.  (It used to take plenty of hacks just to get the outlook client to run on the VPC.)

For the offline client, it would be better if you create a second virtual machine, running under MS-Windows XP or Vista.
Then make that VM a member of the VPC's domain and install the offline outlook client there.

It'll be a much cleaner installation / test environment anyway.

  • Jeey -

It'll take a little trial and error work to get the networking correct - (just normal VPC-VPC communication) - but that's the way we did it back in the 'old days'  :)  - You might even find some tips around the VPC-VCP networking in old notes/postings about the CRM 1.2 VPC.

Good luck and let me hear how it goes.

  • First thing in the morning i am going to try some things...
If somebody already could give me more information about making the XP domain member of the VPC CRM 4, you''re welcome!

  • We've tried our best but i didn't work.
When I try to put the XP VPC into the litwareinc.com domain I first get the credentials but after that he stops.
We think it has to do with the fact litewareinc.COM. Our opinion is that he is going to search on te web for the domain.

We can change the litwareinc.com domain name becaus of the Certifacted Authority Service.

Anybody got other ideas to maybe work around this?
