Importing Customizations from Partner Hosted to On-Premise RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I recently imported customizations from a partner hosted CRM version to On-Premise but I am getting the following error when I imort the Lead entity which we customized and added few attributes of our own. I also tried unmapping the entities but without luck.

Failure: lead-contact: A SQL Server error occurred. Try this action again. If the problem continues, check the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Community for solutions or contact your organization's Microsoft Dynamics CRM Administrator. Finally, you can contact Microsoft Support.

    Thanks in Advance

  • Hi All,

Thank you all for your suggestions. I did the following and it worked. I cleared all the customized mappings for Lead-Contact and exported it from partner hosted CRM and imported in to On-Premise CRM and it worked and later mapped them again. Not sure if this is the right solution but it did the trick for me.

  • Enable tracing and see if you get a better error message http://support.microsoft.com/kb/907490

  • Hi Zahid,

In addition to enabling trace, verify that the update rollup on the on prem server matches or is higher then the partner hosted server.

  • In addition to ensuring the update rollups match, you'll want to export and import all Lead related entities.  For example, when you import the Lead entity, import task, email, phone, fax, account, contact, opportunity and any other related entities.

Based on the error, it looks like there is an issue with the related Contact entity.  My guess is that their is some related mappings between the Lead and Contact entity that are different from one system to the other.  You need to get those to match.  However, sometimes, the error messages can be a bit misleading.

  • Also I  have seen this error, when there is datatype mismatch between two environments, so you can use CustomizationComparisonUtility.exe to compare lead entity customization to make sure there is no datatype mismatch in attributes
