Undoing group policy settings after uninstalling OneCare RRS feed

  • Question

  • Steve,
I am trying to accomplish exactly what "welshlion" asked about -I was on trial version, etc., etc

However, in my case, I DO HAVE XP pro...and wanted to know if those registry suggestions you made -on Saturday, March 01, 2008 1:48 AM- would apply in my case?

Note I had tried to "contact" Onecare, following the step-by-step instructions included in the url posted, but was unable to get to
"Select Billing Support or Technical...." page.

Your assistance/suggestions would be immensely appreciated.
    thank you

  • If the firewal still shows as controlled by Group Policy after OneCare removal, then the following would probably be the solution for you on XP:

Start/Run - type "regedit" without the quotes, click OK

Delete these Registry keys if they exist:

    \DomainProfile \EnableFirewall=0 (DWORD data type)

    \StandardProfile \EnableFirewall=0 (DWORD data type)

WARNING - editing the registry could cause your PC to be unusable.

If you need to get to support and can't get through per the FAQ instructions -unofficial path - send me an email at sboots_at_mvps.org (replace _at_ with @)  with a subject line including "OneCare" (to get past my spam filtering) and in the message body, tell me what country you are in, your forum nickname, and paste this link:

I am not online 24x7, so you may be waiting for a reply, but I'll do my best to hook you up with support.

If you don't get an email response from me wthin 24 hours, post back as my email provider is getting more aggressive with the spam filtering.
