ICE start up times - networked vs non-networked RRS feed

  • Question

  • With a system plugged into an isolated network (not connected to the outside world), ICE takes a LONG time to load.

With no network connection, ICE starts up VERY QUICK. I am guessing ICE is trying to reach out to the world. Is there a way to configure ICE not to 'phone home'?

  • Try

Settings: "Check for updates each time ICE starts"

  • Deselecting updates on start reduced the startup time from 28 to 13 seconds. Startup time with network cable removed is 3 seconds. So while ICE starts twice as fast when not checking for updates, its still four times as long connected verses not connected.

Running boot test several more times with updates disabled and connected to a NIC does seem to result in a quicker boot time.

    Thanks for the tip.
