My Site is not ranked in MSN. Help? RRS feed

  • Question

  •

I submitted my site to MSN in webmaster tools and I still have not been ranked. I seen other people mention User-agent, I not sure what this is and if this is the problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    My site is http://www.lingerieoasis.com/

    # All robots will spider the domain
    User-agent: *
    Disallow:/admin
    Disallow:/js
    Disallow:/css
    Disallow:/bin

    Sincerely,

  • Hi JGand,

Using the "site" opperator in the search box, I show we have 25 pages in our index.

In this example, User-agents are bots or crawlers such as MSNbot that visit your site. You can find out more information regarding robots exclusion protocol on our blog post

    Thanks,

  • Hi JGand,

There are many possible reasons why your site is only partially indexed. These include: site rank, architectural issues, newness of site (i.e. we are catching up) and our overall index size. Out of curiosity, how old is your site? I ask because since last review, we have 12 more pages in the index. This is less than Google sure, but more than Yahoo's 1

  • Brett,

Why is it only 25 Pages? I have many pages, well over 1,000. Is there something I'm missing or doing incorrectly?

    Thanks for all you help!

  • Hi Brett,

My site is about 3 months old? Still working on the programming. I'm I expecting two much? I been reading that MSN is pretty quick?

    Thanks again!

  • Glad to help. I think that we should monitor the indexing. If/ when the increases stop, we should re-evaluate then.

  • Hi Brett,

I can't be sure if my pages are still be indexed. Sometimes the indexed pages number goes up and then it goes back down? Do we know why this happens? For awhile there it was steadily going up, but now it seems to be stuck at around 51 pages or so. Not sure what is going on. Thanks for your help!
