Build 7600 need to be Genuine.

Question
-
Product bought on E-bay UK From good rep seller. All "how-to-tell" passed before installing sotware on a brand new computer. I have notified UK-piracy with the MGADIAG tool info. As stated below.
Based on the info given in various threads it looks like i have a Developer version (067). What is the diffrence between the developer and the "developed" version? And why is this version blocked, after it has been validated and confirmed Genuine on instalation?
Im currently waiting for an answer from MS-UK-Piracy on the NGADIAG report, but it looks like I might get som answers quicker here.
Allt the best.

Hello John_Hart_of_Oslo,
Based on your Windows Product ID: 00426-067-8295963-86428 you have an MSDN product key that appears to have been abused.

Thank you Dan.
Im still waiting for a reply from UK-piracy, on what to do. I have all the info from the seller, and he is still active on E-bay.
I still have som other questions that i have not found answers for on the forum.
I have looked thru the various therads here, but no one explains to us noobs, what the diffrence between the MSDN Key and the "non-developer-key", when it comes packaged in the same way, and all the "how-to-tell" tell-tale-signs are confirmed.
And why this key is blocked. I was under the assumption, that all MS products had a unique key?
my key was from inside the box, sealed. The MS Seal was not broken, othervise i would have returned the product.
The metal strip is in place on the product key sticker.
Please enlighten my ignorance ;)

Hello John_Hart_of_Oslo,
Here it is in a nutshell:
1. Counterfeiter purchases many subscriptions to MSDN under false identities and often with stolen financial accounts. MSDN subscription allows purchaser to download product keys and installation files for many Microsoft products. Terms of the subscription specifically state product keys are for that one subscriber's use, and only for development projects.
2. Counterfeiter manufactures batches counterfeit Microsoft products on sophisticated machinery, and sometimes in the same plant Microsoft uses to make the real stuff (do an internet search for "third shift counterfeits"). Uses the product keys from these MSDN subscriptions, which up to this point seem to have been sold to legitimate buyers. Quite often the installation discs have malware, trojans, and rootkits embedded that get installed right along with the software, which compromises your identity, your bank accounts, your computer, or all three.
3. Counterfeiter sells batches of counterfeit product to unscroupulous sellers who then sell on auction sites and other web sites.
4. These sellers market the counterfeit product to buyers who should know better than to buy an expensive, widely counterfeited product for a huge percentage off and expect it to be Genuine, from a seller they never heard of before.
5. Buyer receives and installs product. Since up to this point the product key is Genuine, buyer's installation activates normally and no one is the wiser.
6. Eventually, Microsoft's activation servers notice that a product key that should have only a handful of activations (if the MSDN rules were followed by a legitimate MSDN subscriber) has many more than it should. Product Key is Blocked. The next time the product is installed, or the next time Windows Activation technologies does a check, the product key is recognized as blocked and the buyer is notified that their software installation is Nongenuine.
7. There have been news reports that some terrorist organizations are finding that software counterfeiting is a lucrative way to finance their operations.

Thanks Dan.
That cleared up the MSDN keys for me.
I finaly got a reply from UK-piracy....Another automated reply.. Great.. The first one told me i would get a contact person.. guess not.
I guess that MS actually don`t /cant cope with all the ____ they are sent.. i dont know.
I just want to help out. send the counterfeit software, its box, and all the info on the still active seller. But i guess again that this is not vital for fighting piracy.. or, -as you stated terrorism.. only buying is vital..
but if anyone here in the forum could provide me with an adress, i would happily send it off.
slightly anoyed John.
