CRM 4.0 Trial and Licensed purchase ?

Question
-
I was just informed by microsoft that there is no "license key" for CRM 4.0 ..."just download it" (?????)
I asked why does the trial offer the option to add your "upgrade license key" under deployment manager?...no answer...just told to download the application from licensing site. don't need a key.
Is this new b/c I just installed this trial less than 2 weeks ago, and pre sales said as long as I entered my "purchased license key" into the crm trial before it expires I'd be fine. If not access to crm 4.0 would not allow me access after expiration.
Can somebody clear this up for me. I just want to make sure this holds true before I blow away this trial system that I got a little heavy into.
and to top it off you get a nice"We apologize but the site has encountered an error. Please try your action again. If this problem persists please contact support." Thursday, February 12, 2009 9:10 PM

I gave eopen another call since the download kept giving me an error after each time I downloaded it saying "the file you downloaded is corrupt...try again"
Finally got the download then I called back and asked the rep there what was the deal behind getting locked into this download option w/ no key.
The rep was informed me if you have your authorization number and license agreement number from your order confirmation sheet (which your reseller may have or is getting mailed to you.....etc)
You can order the installation DVD from fullfillment at number 1800-336-0098 opt 4 opt 1
or
from your file that eopen will say you need to down load...go ahead and download it and explore the .iso image for your product key.
I used magicIso .
the path is /server/I386/license.txt or /server/amd64/license.txt.
the key was inside. copy it.
go to your trial server crm 4.0 manager. choose the upgrade license and put in your key then register your server with the wizard. the product key will show on the registration.- Marked as answer by Donna EdwardsMVP Friday, June 12, 2009 3:40 PM

The answer you got from Microsoft is partly true but mostly false. The true answer is that CRM DOES use license keys but depending on how you obtain your media, these may be embedded and will load up as part of the install process. This blog entry from last year explains the situation:If your media is on backorder, you can also get your open license key from the https://eopen.microsoft.com site.Hope that helps.Leon Tribe
