DCIM folder not staying shared from mobile

Question
-
I have shared the DCIM folder (where cell phone pictures are stored) from my WM6.1 phone with live mesh. It sort of works, but is not reliable. After syncing part of the folder (allowing me to view the pictures on other devices on my mesh), the link on the phone changes to a shortcut (indicating a folder in the mesh that is not being sync'd).
If I share the local DCIM folder again, I get a second folder in the mesh (DCIM-001, if I remember right), and starts copying the pictures again.
If I try to sync the DCIM folder from the mesh to the local device, it creates a new folder on the device.
Is there a way (maybe an 'advanced' tab somewhere), that I can force the mesh to re-establish the sync relationship on this folder? I want to avoid repeated re-syncing of the same pictures, and avoid duplication.
Thanks in advance!

John, can you please send us the log after increasing the log level.
Increase the log level to 4, by going to Menu->Settings
Logs are present in file://application/ Data\Live Mesh\Data\Log\*.txt on your mobile device
Also please provide the following info that will help us recreate the problem at our end --
1) Size of the folder being synced
2) Number of files in the folder
Thanks,

Hi John,
We have a bug with Live Mesh for Mobile where a folder that is only partially synced will revert to a non-synced shortcut if synchronization is interrupted part way through, e.g., if the phone's battery begins to run low, or the phone is low on storage space. If you ensure that the phone stays powered during the entire initial sync operation, and that you have enough storage space, does the folder sync reliably?
If that does not seem to help, please go ahead and open a bug with logs attached (instructions are in an Announcement at the top of the forums). Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks,

Thanks for the suggestion... I have a lot of pictures in that folder, so I moved them to a temporary folder and sync'd the empty folder with Live Mesh Mobile. I then put 4 .jpg files at a time in to the folder and watched them sync. The SD card is a 4gb card and has over 2gb free, so storage is not the problem. Power is not the problem, but intermittent network hiccups could be causing a problem.
Anyway, I was able to sync about 20 or so .jpg's successfully (about 5 or so sync operations of 4 files each), then it "broke" during one of the syncs of 4 files, reverting to a non-synced shortcut.
This is a real bummer, because I'd like to simply have that folder sync'd and never think about it. If anytime there's a hiccup, I need to go through all the hoops of deleting the folder in the cloud, moving the files, re-establishing the sync, then moving the files a few at a time back to the folder -- it just isn't worth it.
When this bug is fixed, how will it handle interruptions in sync? Will it queue it up and try again later? I'd love for it to just give me an error message on a single file, rather than killing the whole folder.
Ultimately, I'd like to see more granular control of mobile sync. Is there a one-direction option? I mean, I would like to sync all the pictures taken with my cell phone camera automatically to Live Mesh, but don't need to sync that folder in the reverse direction... If there's ever a problem, it'd be great to just re-sync and have it pick up where it left off (e.g., picture XXX-001.jpg already exists and matches date/time/size/etc., XXX-002.jpg does not exist, let's start our copy there).
Thanks!

I have this problem as well, but it is after successfully syncing for a long period of time. I will be syncing fine for a week or so then all of a sudden I will start up mesh and one of my mobile folders will no longer be syncing.Wednesday, March 11, 2009 5:18 AM

Since this thread is a few months old, please go ahead and file a bug per the instructions in this post at the top of the forum (the pasted subject here is not a live Link) Collecting Live Mesh for Mobile Logs
After filing the bug, if you would post a link back here to the Connect bug, that would be great.
