SyncToy 2.1 has no write access on SkyDrive RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello all,

I have SkyDrive mapped as a networkdrive. Windows Live ID Sign-in Assistant is installed. Accessing Skydrive via Explorer/Total Commander is no problem. Automatic logon after system restarting - no problem. Syncing local folder with another networkdrive (other WebDAV location [1&1 Office-Drive]) works fine. Preview/Copying from Skydrive to local folder works fine as well. When SyncToy tries to copy/overwrite/mkdir from local folder to SkyDrive I get this error message:

SYNC: 06/17/2010 04:50:47:880: *** Error: Unknown error. Zugriff verweigert (Ausnahme von HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED)) Copying D:\docs\LiveDocs\test\Beratungsbericht.doc to \\xxxxxx.docs.live.net@SSL\DavWWWRoot\xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx\LiveDocs\test\Beratungsbericht.doc

I spent days and nights trying to solve this problem. A few days ago it worked fine for weeks not having any problem accessing SkyDrive with Synctoy. I have no idea what else I could try. Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thanks in advance guys!

  • Hello. I'm having a similar issue though I don't use SyncToy. I have a mapped drive using WebDav that worked up until MS changed SkyDrive to incorporate Office 2010. Then it broke (about a week or so back). If you have a mapped drive using WebDav, there now appears to be a filter in place. I can copy Office files but files with other extensions fail. If I login to live.com and use the file uploader, the file extension restriction is not evident, in other words the file upload works. So it's WebDav and SkyDrive that appears to have a new restriction added since the online Office change to SkyDrive. It would be nice to have this policy restriction reversed.

  • Thanks for the hint. I have just checked it and everything except office files is getting blocked. Now I see the plot. SyncToy writes hidden *.dat files to each root folder within a sync-pair. If that fails it is not able to sync. That means even syncing office files with a SkyDrive folder is not longer possible as well. I just had started to play a bit with the cloud. Regarding the usability of SkyDrive they should give an option to sync office files. Maybe this could be a suggestion for a Live-Sync feature. Wait and see. For the next time being I have lost an useful office feature that made life easier for me...
