Deleting Active Directory Accounts impact to Dynamics CRM 4.0 RRS feed

    I'm currently looking at a CRM 4.0 system that has been used for many years and has been used by over 100,000 users in it's lifetime.  90,000 of those accounts are for users that no longer work here and their AD accounts have been disabled.  We require that records in CRM can still be traced back to the individual users for audit reasons.  My question is:  Can we delete the AD accounts and still be able to identify those users in CRM.  Also, will deleting those accounts have any other impact to CRM?

  • You may delete the AD accounts and still identify the users in CRM.

    The CRM records stores the user's name for use within CRM and a GUID that represents the user's AD account.

    If you delete the AD account the user won't be able to login to CRM - but if the user is disabled then that won't matter. The CRM record will still be there even if the AD account is deleted.
