  • You are using an OEM SLP copy of Windows 7 on a retail motherboard made in 2008.  A hack has put an Acer SLIC table on the computer.  Your mobo cannot have such a table.  This copy of Windows 7 is invalid on this computer.  You need to purchase a full license copy of Windows 7 and reinstall.

You have a 'tampered file' - and this prevents proper validation of the installation.

Please open an Elevated Command Prompt window, and run the following commands - post the results.

    SFC /scanfile=c:\windows\system32\sppcext.dll
    SFC /scanfile=c:\windows\system32\en-us\sppcext.dll.mui
    ICACLS c:\windows\system32\sppcext.dll
    ICACLS c:\windows\system32\en-us\sppcext.dll.mui

Here are some instructions to make life easier :)
    1) To open an Elevated Command Prompt Window (the CP window), click on Start, All Programs, Accessories – then right-click on Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator. Accept the UAC prompt.
    2) To run the commands easier, highlight the block of commands, and right-click on the highlight – select Copy. In the CP Windows, click on the black/white icon at top left – select Paste. The commands will run but may not complete the last command, so hit the Enter Key once.
    3) To copy the results... click on the Black/White icon in the top left, and select Edit... 'Select All', and hit the Enter key - then use Ctrl+V or r-click+Paste to paste it into your response.

OK - at least we now know which file is affected.
Now we have to work out how to deal with it.
The way to do this is to copy a valid file into the places where the invalid ones reside
First - do you have another Windows 7 machine at SP1 level that you can copy the file from?  Do you know how to access the Recovery Environment ('Repair your Computer')

Please run the following command and post the results.

    dir c:\Windows\sppcext.dll /s

By the time you've done that, I should have worked out a set of instructions for you.

OMG! - well spotted, that man - I'm obviously going word-blind again.

Jonny - please accept my apologies, but Colin is perfectly correct.
