IVR dev with OCS 2007 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi everyone,

I have few questions for a project that I need to work on. Hopefully I found the right place for that :)

Here is my environment : OCS 2007 R2 ---> OCS R2 Mediation Server ---> AudioCodes Gateway ---> Nortel BCM 400 (PBX)

As you can see OCS is integrated with my phone system through the audiocodes gateway . I am able to receive calls from external and dial in to my OCS , and make calls from OC to external phones.

My project is to have customer dial in from external phone , typing his order number and having the system giving him his order status based on the status on the SQL DB.

1- Do I need other hardware to do this ? My guess would be no since I have integration with my phone system working.

2- I installed speech server 2007 dev on a windows 2003 R2 server . But the development will be done on a windows 7 64bits workstation , I tried to install on windows 7 the developper tools for speech server 2007 , but it doesn't allow me to since I don't have VS 2005 installed , but I have VS 2010 beta. Is there a way to install the dev tools on VS 2010 instead of VS 2005 ?

3- I tried to follow up the post http://blogs.msdn.com/midunn/archive/2008/06/17/integrating-speech-server-with-office-communications-server.aspx but when I dial on my OC the 411@sub-domain , I get the busy tone with an error from OC. Is there a straight forward tutorial for people who never used speech server 2007 before and wants to start with something easy ?

Thank you for all the help you could give :)

  • Mehdi,

I would happy to help wyou with this you can contact me at keith @ gotuc.net.

    You dont need addtional Hardware.
You dont Need speech server, You should use UCMA 2.0 Workflow. Your workflow prompt would collect Order number and call a web service.
The information would then be played back to the caller.

Using speech server will add a layer you dont need, OCS 2007 R2 Supports UCMA Workflow which is like an updated version of speech server.

Feel free to contact me for more info. You can also sign up fpr a free developer sandbox account and build this using our OCS servers for testing at http://www.gotuc.net

  • You can do this with Speech Server if you want to go that route though OCS/UCMA is the future of IVR.

For more info see this blog post I did - http://gotspeech.net/blogs/marshallharrison/archive/2009/12/24/what-s-the-story-on-speech-server-s-future.aspx
