Windows 7 PC gets disconnected in the beginning of the backup RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've Googled, Binged and went over topics here, but haven't found anything related.

I've got a Win7 laptop and Win7 PC which should be backed up by the WHS. Laptop is backed up just fine with no issues, but when I try to back up the PC, after "backup is starting" message, when backup service should be monitoring changes on partitions, PC gets disconnected from the home network and thus, the backup process is stuck. Disabling/enabling network adapter gets PC back on the network (but only after backup is cancelled, if not, it gets disconnected immediately after reconnection).

The only thing I've tried so far was reinstalling connector software. no success. Also, I've downloaded connector troubleshooter and only thing it says is "DHCP server was not found". I'm not good with networks, so I couldn't figure out what could that indicate (all computers in the network are assigned static IPs).

    Any suggestions?

P.S. The last log is like this:

  • Is this a wired network adapter?  Have a go at going into device manager and rolling back the driver that is installed.  What network adapter do you have installed?

    Cheers,
    Al

  • Hi Al, thanks for your reply!

Sorry I didn't reply earlier, I'd given up on this topic as noone had replied for long.

I tried rolling back driver and the only result is that WU is suggesting downloading newer driver for LAN card :-) Problem remains.

Yes, adapter's wired, it's the one integrated on Asus P5K-SE motherboard.

  • Did you rollback to a driver before 2010? What network adapter do you have as I've seen data that says its Atheros and Marvel Yukon.

  • Al, I upgraded driver only once via WU and it was before 2010, so RollBack should've loaded 2009 driver. And it's "Atheros L1 Gigabit Ethernet 10/100/1000Base-T Controller".

    Thanks for reply.
