  • Question

  • Hi,
I just read about the windows CCS 2003, and wondering how to take advantage of it for video editing applications. For an application to take benefit of the cluster, does the apps need to be written and designed specifically,  by using the cluster API, etc?
Or can I install any apps I need (Adobe's application, for an instance) on the head node, and the CCS itself will be able to distribute the workload and processes to its cluster nodes? Thus any aplications can take advantage of the high performance cluster?
    Thanks.

  • In general, applications need to be specifically written to take a advantage of the cluster. However, some applications known as embarrassing parallel can take advantage of the cluster directly. Embarrassing parallel applications don't share any data; many instances of the application run on different nodes of the cluster working on their on set of data. You should first check with your ISV to see if their applications are available for Windows HPC Server 2008.
